Western Wall Replica

One of the first things visitors will see upon arrival at the Legacy International Center is the beautiful 16 feet high by 100 feet long replica of the Western Wall (also known as the Wailing Wall) in Jerusalem. Created using stones from Israel, this replica is being built to honor and pay tribute to the Western Wall in Jerusalem, known and loved worldwide as one of the holiest sites in the world.

The Western Wall, in the Old City of Jerusalem, is the only remains of the Second Temple, destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD. Jewish sages teach that despite the destruction of the First and Second Holy Temples, the divine Presence of God never departs from the Western Wall.

King Herod built the Western Wall in 20 BC, as the supporting western wall of the Second Holy Temple. It measures 160 feet long and is about 60 feet high. It is composed of three types of Jerusalem stone, each from a different time period. Almost half of the stones of the Wall are underground and invisible. Each stone of the first seven layers above ground is enormous, weighing between two and seven tons. The section above these layers consists of smaller rocks dating back to the eighth century, and the top layers consist of small stones dating from the thirteenth to the sixteenth centuries.
